Returns on investment

Garfield County meets all statutory requirements for interest income investments. The county surpassed its 2025 interest income goal and earned almost $5.6 million in 2025 and has strong performance for 2026 so far. The Garfield County Treasurer oversees the total portfolio, including cash, that has fluctuated between $105 and $203 million during the 2025 and 2026 calendar years. The portfolio increases as property tax is collected and distributed largely in the first half of the year. The county treasurer works with an Investment Advisory Board that meets quarterly and provides investment strategy advice to the treasurer.
