2017 Coordinated Election

Ballot question 2A fails after tie vote
Following a count of cured ballots, New Castle Ballot Question 2A failed, 440 – 440. The measure would have increased the town’s taxes by $330,000 annually for safety, recreation, and economic development. Tie votes on ballot questions result in a loss for a measure.
Garfield County voters cleared the way for a nearly $12 million tax increase for Grand River Hospital District and a more than $600,000 Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District tax increase. Voters declined tax increases for Garfield County museums and Colorado Mountain College (CMC). While in Garfield County, Randy Winkler prevailed over Peg Portscheller, she retained the lead districtwide for the only contested CMC Board of Trustees seat.
