Correctional programs
The Garfield County Department of Community Corrections has been providing non-residential service since 1982. In recent years, the program has expanded from a single purpose useful public service provider into providing a multitude of correctional programs. These have included, but are not limited to: monitoring domestic violence offender treatment compliance, overseeing personal recognizance bond issuance, performing pre-trial supervision, providing restitution services, supervising inmate work crews, and providing day reporting, electronic home monitoring, and ISP services for Division of Parole.
Re-screening requests
Requests for re-screening of referrals (from defense counsel or the judiciary) must be made to the director of Criminal Justice Services and will be discussed at the next scheduled screening committee meeting. The screening committee members present will vote on the request to re-screen the referral – simple majority of those present at that meeting rules.
Useful public service
Useful public service (UPS) is used as an alternative sentencing option. UPS is a coordination of court-ordered community service through community service placement with non-profit organizations. UPS staff will assist clients with getting their court ordered useful public service performed and recorded for the courts.
