Raising Funds for Special Olympics Colorado
For Immediate Release
June 27, 2025, 2:05 PM
Sunday June 29, 2025, is the Statewide “Tip-a-Cop” fundraiser for Special Olympics Colorado. Every Chili’s Restaurant in Colorado will be supporting Special Olympics Colorado Program from noon to 4:00 PM, this Sunday. Chili’s will typically raise between $70,000.00 and $86,000.00 each year from this eight hour fundraising effort! Garfield County Sheriff’s Deputies will be at the Chili’s in Glenwood Springs from 1200-1600. Deputies Tafiti, Stinson and Brinkdopke will join with local Special Olympians to communicate with the public and raise awareness of this terrific program.
Special Olympics is a global movement providing sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. It was founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Driven by a desire to create opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities, Shriver initiated the first Special Olympics International Games in Chicago that year. The organization has since grown into a worldwide force for inclusion and empowerment, with millions of athletes and volunteers participating in events across the globe.
Why not have lunch or “Linner” at Chili’s this Sunday between noon and 4:00 PM (so our team gets the credit!)? Tell your friends and family about the day! You will not only be supporting your fellow Deputies but you will be helping raise funds for a tremendous program right here in our own State!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
