Temporary restricted drawdown on TANF/SSBG funds
On Jan. 6, the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) received a letter from the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) indicating that it is initiating a review of Colorado’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) State Plan for “completeness and for program compliance with applicable laws.”
In Colorado, TANF, known as Colorado Works, supports thousands of families across Colorado with a basic cash assistance (BCA) component that alone supports more than 50,000 children.
CDHS also received a similar notification for Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds, which are used to provide a broad range of services for vulnerable Coloradans, including child welfare services.
During the investigation, the ACF is placing the state on temporary restricted drawdown for TANF and SSBG funds. CDHS is currently reviewing the requirements and assessing the potential impacts.
