Statewide Department of Motor Vehicles system upgrade

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is launching a major digital upgrade. This statewide system improvement includes updates to the public e-services platform, myDMV, creating a simpler, faster, and more secure experience. Garfield County Motor Vehicle office hours and services will be impacted during the upgrade period. E-services and self-service kiosks will also be unavailable February 13–16, 2026. Garfield County has mailed ballots for the Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, Coordinated Election. More than 39,250 ballots were mailed to active registered Garfield County voters on Oct. 10, and all 24/7 ballot drop boxes are now open to receive ballots. Visit Go Vote Colorado to ensure that your voter registration information is correct; Oct. 27 is the last day voters can update their registration and still be mailed a ballot. A protest was filed on March 11 to the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder’s Office regarding a community recall effort to remove Garfield County School District Re-2 Board of Education Director of District E Tony May from his seat. Garfield County has retained an independent officer, Ms. Sheila Reiner of Desert Vista Consulting, LLC, of Mesa County, to administer a protest hearing and decide whether the protest is valid and if a recall election will be scheduled. Garfield County has mailed 37,500 ballots to registered voters for the Tuesday, Nov. 7, Coordinated Election. Ballots were mailed to all military and overseas voters on Sept. 22. Adjustments have been made to Garfield County’s precinct maps following input taken from the 2020 U.S. Census. There are 27 precincts in Garfield County, each with less than 2,000 voters apiece. An extension of the normal 30-day grace period for vehicle registrations in Colorado is ending on July 1, 2020. An executive order issued by Gov. Jared Polis in March granted the grace period, as well as waived the late fees during that time, for registrations that expired since January of this year. State motor vehicle system driving into the 21st Century

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Colorado’s Motor Vehicle computer system is being updated this summer to provide customers with the best quality service possible. The new system, Colorado DRIVES, is slated to go live on Aug. 6. Changes coming to New Castle, Carbondale precinct boundaries

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The boundaries of several voting precincts in Garfield County are being adjusted for growth prior to the 2018 caucuses. Voters in Carbondale’s precincts one through four, and New Castle’s 14 and 15, will receive notices by mail explaining which precinct they reside in after the changes are finalized. GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The Glenwood Springs Police Department has made an arrest as the result of an investigation involving the alleged embezzlement of funds from revenue collections in the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Former Garfield County employee Robin McMillan was arrested for theft on August 5, 2014, and she immediately posted bond for her release. GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Garfield County Clerk Jean Alberico and election judges have certified the final results of the 2013 Coordinated Election.
