The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), along with members of the All-Hazards Response Team (AHRT), were honored with a “Call of the Year” award during Eagle County Public Safety Council’s A Night of Excellence – Celebrating Those Who Serve event on Saturday, October 3 at 4, 2026, Eagle Ranch in Wolcott.
The annual Night of Excellence recognizes the dedication, professionalism, and service of emergency responders throughout the region.
The Call of the Year award recognized the multi-agency response to a critical incident near Dotsero, Colorado. GCSO deputies and supervisors responded to assist Eagle County deputies regarding a vehicle pursuit that had escalated to reports that a suspect had fired shots at an Eagle County deputy while fleeing from the scene. Upon arriving at the scene, GCSO deputies immediately worked with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office to secure the area, establish a perimeter, and protect the surrounding community while assessing the developing situation.
