Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code fencing
Any fence within 8’ of any structure, even a neighbor’s structure, will require a building permit prior to construction. Fences more than 8’ from structures do not require a building permit. A fence for new or remodeled structures will be included with the building permit issued for the structures. This includes both residential and commercial fences/structures.
Refer to the State website to determine the Fire Intensity Classification. Click on the map link on the State website and find the property in question.
There are basically 3 classifications, No Hazard, Low Hazard and Medium/High Hazard.
No Hazard has no Wildfire requirements. It is recommended but not required.
Low and Medium/High Hazard
